Frequently Asked Questions About Healthy Water

 Why filter your water?

The human body is made up of approximately 70% water. This water is used by the body for various purposes and must be replaced on a regular basis. If you do not replace this water with filtered or purified water and choose to consume 'tap' water, your body will act as the filter. By consuming the numerous contaminants commonly found in tap water will result in the gradual accumulation of these toxins in your body's cells, tissues, organs and glands.

The quality of your drinking water is regulated by Local, State, and Federal agencies, who have been slow to set standards. There are NO regulations set for most of the thousands of contaminants found in U.S. drinking water supplies. The standards that have been set are often found to be too weak to eliminate health hazards. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) limits do not consider the cumulative effect of exposure to many contaminants that occur at the same time. Instead, limits are set for each toxic contaminant individually, as if it were the only contaminant you are being exposed to.

Also, EPA regulations that have been set are often violated and almost never enforced. According to the Government Accounting Office (GAO), two-thirds of EPA water violations are not even reported. Violations that are reported affect nearly half of the public drinking water supply systems in the United States. EPA enforcement actions are taken less than 5% of the time.

Hundreds of the contaminants that have been identified in the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) "National Primary Drinking Water Standards, February 1994", are specifically linked to numerous degenerative health conditions; including cancer, circulatory disorders, kidney disorders, liver disorders, nervous system disorders, bone damage, heart damage, lung damage, gastrointestinal upsets, and numerous other conditions. This problem is particularly dangerous for infants and children, whose brain, bones, and organs are undergoing growth and development and are more susceptible to damage caused by contact with toxic substances. Other groups of people at risk include the elderly and anyone with a weakened immune system. After learning such information and statistics, most people are realizing that there are almost some certain risks to drinking, cooking with or bathing in tap water.
